Discovery, Distribution and Data Access Notice
Effective date: 24 October 2026 Last updated: 24 October 2026
1. Purpose
This notice explains how Tours are discovered, which channels distribute them and what data Publishers can access. It forms part of the Creator Commercial Schedule and must describe actual product behaviour, not aspirational functionality.
2. Search and recommendations
Discovery first limits results to publicly available Tours and the selected search, geographic and catalogue filters. Within a filter group, multiple selected choices are alternatives; supplied groups combine as requirements. Surfaces may use manually selected featured Tours, publication order, selected price/name/rating order, or geographic proximity where that surface offers it. Nearby results use location and route/Stop proximity; the nearest-start option measures the Tour start. Explicit filters and sort controls govern their respective result set. Manual featuring reflects Guides’ editorial selection, not a customer review. The current web implementation does not rank Tours through an individual behavioural recommendation profile.
A Publisher is not guaranteed a particular position, number of impressions or sales. We do not need to disclose source code or information that would materially enable manipulation, but this does not justify withholding the required intelligible description of the main parameters.
3. Paid promotion, supported and Guides-owned Tours
Paid ranking and paid placement are not currently offered. Guides can manually feature selected Tours, which can give them greater visibility on featured surfaces. Featuring is an editorial selection to help visitors discover the catalogue; it does not guarantee sales. Negotiated Company pricing or production support does not by itself change organic ranking. Any future paid influence will require an updated disclosure and clear identification.
A commercial placement or partnership must not be presented as an independent customer review. Any separate tour-specific support arrangement must identify promised deliverables rather than imply guaranteed organic ranking.
4. Distribution channels
The core channels are the Guides website and Guides mobile applications. No reseller or affiliate purchase channel is currently active. Sharing links and QR entry points lead to Guides; they are not separate sales channels.
An external sales channel requiring additional rights or deductions cannot be activated solely by adding it to this notice. The Publisher's applicable acceptance must be obtained under the Creator and Publishing Terms and Commercial Schedule.
Marketing placements are not full-Tour distribution channels. A withdrawn Tour may be referred to in accurately labelled editorial or promotional material under the accepted Continuing Promotional Licence, but must not be represented in purchase/search interfaces as currently available for new access. External promotional reuse does not itself authorise external full-Tour sales.
5. Access to data
Guides has operational access to the content and account information Publishers supply, transaction and entitlement records, and technical/usage information processed as described in the Privacy Notice. Access is limited by purpose, security controls and applicable law.
Authorized publishers can manage their own draft content and media, inspect publication status, view aggregate Tour analytics and access beneficiary-scoped payout reporting. Company access depends on membership and the action’s role requirements. Financial views distinguish purchases, commission, processing fees, refunds and net earnings where reconciled. Date-range analytics is bounded and does not expose customer-level journey history. Stripe provides connected-account dashboard/report access where enabled. Original upload or record-copy requests can be made to hello@guides.app; they remain subject to authority, privacy and lawful retention. Other publishers’ private drafts and customer lists are not made available.
Hosting/CDN, database, authentication, media/storage, payment, email, analytics and operational support providers process relevant information to provide those functions. Optional analytics follows the applicable consent controls. No reseller or affiliate customer-data distribution is currently active. The Privacy Notice describes the provider and transfer arrangements; contractual promotional rights do not independently authorize unrelated personal-data sharing.
Publishers receive no implied ownership of customer personal data and no automatic permission to add customers to marketing lists. Other Publishers' confidential content and customer-level data are not available merely because you publish here.
6. Withdrawal and post-termination access
Withdrawal does not erase records needed for completed sales, complaints, tax or existing customer access. Separately cleared Marketing Materials may be retained for a valid Continuing Promotional Licence, with restrictions, personal-data rights and periodic necessity review; this does not permit retention of the whole Tour merely for unspecified future marketing. You can request a reasonable copy of your available original uploads and your transaction statements under the Creator and Publishing Terms. Security, third-party rights and legal restrictions may limit individual fields. An administrative export window does not eliminate mandatory personal-data access rights.
7. Questions and changes
Contact hello@guides.app for clarification or to challenge an inaccurate description. Material changes affecting contractual rights follow the notice and exit safeguards in the Creator and Publishing Terms. Technical adjustments that do not change those rights may be reflected here, but the description must remain current.
